I have been teaching English and French for 18 years. Teaching all levels, from beginner to advanced. I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I have working experience in Montreal, Quebec.
$35 per hour (or $20 for 30 min. lessons)
**Adults: You must book 1 hour minimum. Only students in grade 1 or grade 2 are allowed 30 min. sessions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I studied at the University of Toronto, double majoring in French and Psychology and minoring in English. I also have a Master's Degree in Theological Studies.
I worked in Montreal in full-time bilingual call center jobs in the past, and so I speak English and French fluently, with knowledge of the Quebec accent as well as the France accent.
When I was young, I studied in a French Immersion program, learning French intensively since I was in kindergarten.
I grew up with a Montreal-born French-speaking father as well.
I have trained French teacher candidates who were trying to pass their Ontario French Teacher's exam. I also teach Business French.
During Covid-19, I have taught English to students all across Canada. My English students range from elementary school age to older adults. I teach Business English and French, Conversational English and French, High school essay writing, spelling, and grammar.

I use pictures, online articles, ebooks, conversations, the dictionary in your language, grammar tools, and homework. Currently I am using the Zoom app to video call my students. You will need a good Internet connection.

I cannot say enough good things about Martine. She is professional, knowledgeable and a good teacher. She was always prepared, and ready with a lesson. In 5 weeks of lessons, I picked up more than months with an app. You will not be disappointed with her as a tutor or teacher! Worth the money!
Martine played a crucial role in supporting my academic studies during my previous semester, specifically in my undergraduate English writing course. As a university student, my specific program lacked courses that emphasized creative writing with a focus on reading passages in popular English literature and modern news articles. My son has been doing online learning since September 2020. He has been in french immersion since JK and his board does not offer french immersion for online learning. We were concerned that our son would loose his french over the 2020/2021 school year. Thankfully, with Martine's tutoring, our son is on track with his french learning. He looks forward to his twice weekly tutoring sessions with Martine. We are very grateful that we found Martine at the beginning of the 2020/2021 school season. We would highly recommend her tutoring services.
I learned my french at a faster pace, and was able to speak conversational french within a matter of 3 months. This helped me professionally, and I eventually transitioned from an english agent to a bilingual agent at my workplace.

My 8 years old daughter Grace is very happy to have Martine as her French tutor since the beginning of COVID-19 locked down. Martine is very knowledgeable and kind to kids. She also wrote class notes in detail to help parents understand how the learning goes. We are happy to keep working with Martine.
Martine is lovely and my kids really enjoy learning french from her. Our 3 boys aged 8, 10, and 11 have all said that they "hate French class at school", but Martine makes their lessons fun and the hour class flies by. They have already learned a lot from her.
