Hello, My name is Daniel. I am a French, English and Spanish tutor with five years of experience both in person and online. I always like to keep in touch with my students to motivate them, give them recommendations, learning tools and practice. I also like to work with audio books, apps, voice notes, websites, review tests, videos, vocabulary guides etc. I believe it is important to maintain constant practice to acquire the vocabulary, grammar and the necessary skills to reach proficiency in the language. My priority is also the communicative approach, motivating the student to improve his or her written and oral communication skills. I only use the English language in very necessary cases but I try as much as possible to give most of the time to the student.
I have a degree in Modern Languages in English and French with a minor in business. I have a C2 EF SET Certificate in English and a DELF B2 certificate in French. Although not directly related to teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE), I am currently pursuing a master's degree in teaching French as a foreign language (FLE) at the University of the Antilles in Martinique, France.
Since March 2019 I have been working as a French teacher in classroom and online at French Alliance. Since February 2020 I work as an online Spanish teacher for an online language academy and also freelance for teenagers, young adults and adults. I have been working since 2021 as a community tutor in italki teaching Spanish and French languages but mainly Spanish because it is my mother tongue. I have several positive comments from my students from different countries in the United States, Europe and Asia. I also have experience as a Spanish teacher at Trymatic online school for one year. My classes at Trymatic were aimed at basic, intermediate and conversational level American students from 14 years old to 65 years old. I have also had experience with teenagers, young adults and adults from different countries. I have worked with students from the most basic level where they speak almost no Spanish to advanced level students where they handle the subjunctive, past and future tenses from A1 to B2.
Regarding my teaching methodology, I always like to keep in touch with my students to motivate them, give them recommendations, learning tools and practice. I also like to work with audio books, apps, voice notes, websites, review tests, videos, audio books, vocabulary guides etc. I believe it is important to maintain constant practice to acquire the vocabulary, grammar and the necessary skills to reach proficiency. I usually use short slides with short explanations and exercises. I always evaluate the student at the beginning of the class, I ask him/her about the topics he/she would like to study and the purpose in case it is for a couple, family, work, tourism or studies. After knowing the student's objectives we practice a couple of activities, a question and answer session to solve any doubts the student may have. Finally a review of all the topics we have studied in class. I like to have a conversational approach, I always look for the student to be able to express himself orally and in writing from the first class. My priority is that the time during the class is for the student to be able to speak more than me so that he/she has the opportunity to practice and improve his/her level.
My priority is also the communicative approach, motivating the student to improve his or her written and oral communication skills. I only use the English language in very necessary cases but I try as much as possible to give most of the time to the student.
