I am a retired nurse with a BScN. I have taken the Oxford Course to tutor english. I have taught several students in Spain wishing to improve their english for employment. I welcome students of all ages. I am flexible with time. I have a basic knowledge of Spanish so can help a student transitioning to English. I am also available for classes by Zoom.
I have a BScN in Nursing from the University of Alberta. I also have a diploma for the Oxford Course to tutor english. While in Spain I had a translation business for Spanish to English and English to Spanish for technical papers.
I have tutored students, both adolecents and adults needing to improve their english for future employment. I also tutored professional adults needing to improve their English for collaboration with others in their field.
I use materials such as vocabulary lists, crosswords, exercises in different parts of speech to give a variety of approaches to keep things interesting. I give students plenty of opportunity to speak themselves so they get comfortable with converstion. I use games and flash cards for younger students. I like to encorpate idioms that are frequently used in everyday language. I sometimes use music and word games for comphrehension. If I have two or more students I give them situations to role play with each other, such as customer and client and then switching the roles. I also have students read or write a story.
