Hello, I did all my schooling up in the States. As a matter of fact, I grew up in New York. I moved to Colombia and I have been an English teacher for some of the finest universities in the region. I have vast experience in teaching English. I also have a TESOL Certificate. My Curriculum Vitae can vouch for my working experience. I have done online private classes as a freelancer. Due to this pandemic, I am currently unemployed.
I went to elementary school in Long Island New York. The name of the school is Northern parkway school. I did my Junior High in Lawrence Rd. Junior High School in Hempstead Long Island. I went to Uniondale HIghschool however, I graduated from Springstead High in Hernando county Tampa Florida. That's where I graduated from and I went to Florida International University where I got my bachelor's degree. I was adopted when I was 5yrs old and my stepfather named me John Manny Gotay. that's the name that I appear within my adoption papers I have dual citizenship and I am currently living in Colombia.
I started working at Santiago de Cali University. I have worked at some of the finest institutions in the region like Javeriana University, San Buenaventura University, Autonoma University, Pontificia Bolivariana University, ICESI university I have also worked in three different Highschools in the region. I have taught Communicative English, ESP, Grammar, Vocabulary, and all the linguistic competences. I have done private one-on-one classes and some virtual private classes. I have knowledge of using MOODLE and Blackboard. my experience as an English teacher goes back 22yrs. I LOVE TEACHING and I consider myself a very motivated, dedicated and dynamic teacher.
I try to use real-life situations for my students to see the need for a second language. I think the total physical response is the best way to get the message across. I try different exercises to accommodate my students' needs since as a teacher I have to keep in mind all the multiple intelligences in the classroom environment. Please, don't let my age be an impediment to work with you. I may be 53 yrs old But I am very young at heart. Plus I make my classes very enjoyable. Also, the experience helps a lot.
