Piano, flute, violin and music theory teacher with 10+ yrs experience teaching all ages and abilities, RCM, ABRSM etc. Goal: make music lessons as fun, tailored to the individual and enjoyable as possible!
I have loved music for as long as I can remember and began to learn the recorder aged 3. I played in various bands and orchestras, often with leading positions throughout primary and secondary school where I gained grade VIII (ABRSM) in both the flute and violin. Aged 16, I attended Chetham’s School of Music for 2 years, where I was awarded my piano diploma with the London College of Music, before studying for my BMus Honours degree at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Whilst studying at the Guildhall, I began teaching in my spare time and found that I loved it!
I have amassed over nine years of wide-ranging teaching experience, in private piano, violin and flute tuition, group tuition, classroom music, kindergarten music classes and music for babies, as well as establishing and leading school and adult choirs in both the UK and Canada. I taught for 6 years in various parts of the UK, and will have been teaching for 7 years in Canada by March 2025.
I am familiar with the Royal Conservatory Canada syllabus, as well as UK-based boards the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College.
Students with English as a second language, who are neurodiverse, or have special educational needs are warmly welcomed.
As a music teacher I aim to nurture and instil a love and appreciation of music to all my students no matter their ultimate musical goals, and make lessons as fun, tailored to the individual and enjoyable as possible. Whether beginner, years of experience, or returning to the instrument as an adult, all abilities are welcome.
As well as instrumental lessons, I offer 'pure' theory lessons. If you have already been learning an instrument but are behind on your theory, come and learn with me and finish the prerequisites for RCM and ABRSM!
Lessons are usually 30 minutes long (so divide the hourly rate in half). 45 and 60 minute lessons available.
In-person lessons held at my home studio in the Fraser Heights area of Surrey, BC.
Lessons at your home available (travel fee applies.)
Online lessons hosted via Google Meet.
