I studied American Literature at the University of Sussex, England from 2000-2004. I received a 2:1 BA Hons. This involved a year of study at the University of Santa Cruz, California.
I have worked in various facets of education - firstly as a study guide and student mentor at the University of Hope, Liverpool, UK. There I worked with a number of students with learning difficulties including those with Aspergers and Dyslexia.
I later became an English Language Teacher and have worked in this role for the last nine years, in various schools and private academies across Spain.
I have worked as an on-line English Language Teacher for over two years.
In the past I worked mainly with Cambridge Assessment Materials, from A1-B2, preparing children, teens and adults for the Cambridge Exams.
In recent years working online, my lessons have mainly centred around communication, with a big emphasis on speaking and listening. I believe that speaking a new language is fundamental to learning and really understanding that language. You can learn lots of grammar, even to an advanced level, but if you cannot speak confidently and naturally in that language, the grammar is not all that useful!
I am also happy to help students with writing, reading and grammar, or to combine all skills in one course ;)
I want to help my students develop both language and communication skills, to enable them to be productive and confident in the lives they lead. My lessons aim to be fun, engaging and highly communicative. I use a variety of resources including video clips, newspaper articles, short stories, games, role play, songs and creative writing activities.
I will teach you how to speak English in a natural and relaxed way, so that you can communicate confidently at work, when studying abroad, or for general leisure or travel purposes.
For the moment I am available from 18:00 - 20:00 from Monday to Friday. I can however be flexible with my hours, so do contact me if you would like to schedule a session outside of these time slots and I will try my very best to help you!
On-line via Skype.
