Experienced teacher of over 15 years in British Columbia in a variety of grade levels and subjects, several years of teaching and tutoring before this both in Canada and internationally. My passion is teaching the sciences, especially Chemistry.
BA double major in Chemistry and Physical Science (secondary) Education from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN in 1990.
MA in Theology from Prairie Bible InstInstitute Graduate School, Three Hills, AB in 1992
Taught English as a Second Language in an international Kindergarten in Lima, Peru in the mid-1990's for one year.
Taught English as a Second Language for K-adults in Changua, Taiwan for one year in 2000-2001.
Worked as an ESL and academic tutor for both Canadian and international student populations in Greater Victoria from 2003 to present.
Work currently as a high school teacher and special education coordinator for a local "online school" in Greater Victoria.
For several years I have focused most of my instruction using Zoom as my main medium for instruction and feel I have good skills in engaging online learners.
I am quite familiar with BC curriculum and have helped elementary, middle school, and high school families, both "neurotypical" and "neurodivergent" navigate their school programs.
Available most Tuesdays and Thursday mornings if daytime tutoring is desired. After school or after work times are more flexible most days, Sunday-Thursday.
I prefer Zoom as the online platform to tutor but could be flexible depending on what is needed for the student. In-person meetings could only occur in exceptional circumstances for a higher rate, depending on driving distance.
