¡Hola! My name is Deisy Maritza Ospina. I am from Colombia! I am a certified teacher in BC. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Diploma in Education from the UBC. I have been a Spanish tutor for 10+ years. I used to run enthusiastic Spanish meetup groups with an interactive atmosphere. I was a Spanish instructor in two institutes, and I am experienced at teaching all ages - children, young and adults - and all levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced -. As a private tutor, I will teach you correct grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary, slang and nuances of the Spanish language. I focus in all the language competences: Reading, listening, writing, speaking and most important, understanding Spanish. Deisy was very helpful in preparing us for our trip to South America. As an educator, she knew how to motivate and inspire us to learn much more than the basics. Our weekly lessons over the past 5 months have really boosted our confidence so we can travel safely and meet Spanish speaking people.
Deisy has helped us tremendously on our road to speak Spanish. We are not fluent yet but we are well on the way to speaking a reasonable standard. Deisy and Marion have become good friends too so that is a bonus.
We found Deisy online and decided to give her a try based on other reviews. We wanted to learn Spanish because we have visited Costa Rica and Mexico various times and wanted to be able to communicate as we travelled. She taught myself, my husband and my 10 year old daughter over a 5 month period. Deisy was able to explain Spanish concepts and meanings in a way that was easy to learn and often humorous. Deisy has an excellent understanding of grammar and regional slang. Deisy's approach to teaching is to provide a written lesson, explain it and do verbal practice before assigning homework. I wish we had more time to put into our homework and more time to learn from her. My husband picked up the ability to speak and understand the spoke language better than I while I picked up the ability to understand the written language a little better. Deisy is dedicated and punctual and very personable. I highly recommend her for Spanish tutoring.
Deisy is gold dust. We have found not only a teacher but a friend. She is super patient and we have learned a lot from her in a very short time. I would recommend her services without hesitation. Great written course materials and the lessons go at your pace , with a little gentle pushing maybe. If you are wanting to learn Spanish look no further.
Deisy works hard to keep my young children engaged and learning. She is very patient with them and incorporates things they like into the lessons and teaches them new things every lesson as well as making the reviews fun. We are very happy and pleased to have Deisy teaching us Spanish!
