English Language Tutor Lena from Halifax

My BSc. and my MA are in Psychology and my Doctorate is in Education, with a cognate in Justice. I also have specialized training from the Justice Institue of BC in Cultural Competency, Conflict Resolution, Counselling Techniques and Group Facilitation.

I have 22 years experience in the fields of education, psychology and justice. I have a specialization in adult education, teaching English as a second/additional language and writing for academe. I have taught almost all subjects k through university.

Much of my teaching has been focused on two primary groups of people: - those preparing for academic life at university, hence our focus was on writing English language proficiency tests, entrance exams, and various academic papers across all disciplines & - those new to the country and wishing to get established professionally, in jobs and careers, hence our focus was on English language skills, resumes, interview techniques etc. In general, my approach is an experiential learning method, highly engaging and consistently using students real life challenges and goals as the compass which directs the tutoring path.

Monday - Thursday 4-9pm and open to other times I am needed.
