Passionate, caring, and engaging. These words best describe my teaching. a) Have been TAing for the Japanese language program at UBC for 7 years and teaching Japanese courses at a university for 2 years b) Earned a master's degree in Curriculum & Pedagogy from UBC and currently completing another master's degree in Language & Literacy Education (Japanese focus) at UBC, intending to conduct a PhD research project focusing on Japanese language education and identity construction. I strive to provide lessons to meet your learning needs and create space where you can effectively and comfortably learn Japanese. A BRIEF INTRO: Grew up in Tokyo, California, HK, and Shanghai. As part Japanese and part Chinese who lived in Asia and North America, I had the great opportunities to interact with people who have diverse backgrounds and life histories. As a language educator, my life experience has provided me with multiple perspectives on language teaching and learning. Each individual is different. As a gay guy and person of color, the intersection of LGBTQ and racial issues is of special interest.
