I am a Mandarin Chinese native speaker with a master degree in Education from McGill university. I have been teaching Mandarin Chinese for seven years. My teaching career started seven years ago as a Chinese language teacher in London Chinese school. Since then, I have tutored learners with different language levels and various age groups. I love language and enjoy teaching languages with various dynamic and personalized teaching approaches. My enthusiasm for Chinese culture and literature would also make the language learning journey with me fun and enchanting.

I have been tutoring Mandarin Chinese for seven years, and I have taught over 50 students. I have teaching experience in public schools, private educational institutions as well as private one-on-one tutoring. Right now I mainly focus on personalized one-on-one tutoring to meet learner’s own language learning needs. I especially love teaching language to kids and youth. My current students have all been learning Mandarin with me for over 3 years and they told me I’m very approachable and can make language learning fun. Equipped with a master degree in Language Teaching, I’m professional in applying efficient language learning methods. My multi-culture experience also helps me better talk to learners with different backgrounds. Also, I studied Chinese Philosophy for my undergrad, so I always love sharing Chinese culture, history and philosophy with you!
I can use different kinds of language teaching approaches: communicative teaching method, multi-media teaching method, content-based learning, tasked-focused teaching, and deliberate teaching, etc., as long as that works for you! I believe everyone has their own pattern, interest and preference in learning a new language and thus, as a tutor, I will tailor each lesson for the interest of each learner’s unique needs and learning goals.
My pedagogy is highly personalized. According to your learning objectives, I can systematically teach Mandarin starting from the very basics, such as pin yin and characters. I can also focus on some particular aspects that you want to improve, such as grammar, vocabulary or punctuation. I would also like to share Chinese culture and traditions with the learners who hope to learn Mandarin through culture and contexts.
I have Mandarin textbooks and I can prepare teaching materials for each class, but I also welcome students’ own learning materials if they are interested in particular contents.
For children, I usually design fun activities and games to facilitate their interest and communication skills; for adults, my teaching will be adjusted for each learner’s own goal and preference. I can teach individual or group class, both in person or online.
