I am a very experienced ESL teacher with over 25 years of experience. I am patient, skilled, and creative. I enjoy teaching both children and adults and am adept in teaching all four skills areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I also ensure that students get vocabulary-building and pronunciation practice. Students can choose to focus on settlement, employment or school/academic English.
I have my B.A. in English, my Bachelor of Education with a Manitoba Teacher's Certificate, my Language Assessor's Certificate, my TESL Certificate at Level 2, and a Master of Library and Information Science.
I have over 25 years of teaching experience and have taught at several major service-providing agencies in Winnipeg, as well as in Ontario and Saskatchewan. I know the Canadian Language Benchmarks very well and teach in accordance with the best practices of my profession.
I use the Communicative Language Method. I believe in interacting with the student(s) and want students to become involved in the process of learning. As a result, I provide students with real-world activities and materials. I also focus on the things that they are interested in learning or need to learn in school.
Year-round availability on weekends.
I prefer to work out of my home office or online. I can use Zoom, MS Teams or Google Meet. I am willing to meet with a student in a public place as long as it is not too far for me to drive and Covid regulations allow it.
