Hello, my name is Shiho, a native Japanese speaker from Osaka, Japan. I have been living in Vancouver, Canada since 2015 and have been teaching Japanese to students from different cultural backgrounds and at various levels from beginner to advanced levels. I love meeting new people and sharing my language, culture and having fun with them.
I received teacher training in Vancouver and started teaching in 2016 in both private and class settings at a Japanese language school catering to school-age students and working adults.
You can improve your Japanese with me in all aspects of languages, writing, reading, listening and speaking, whether you like to communicate better with native Japanese, want to understand Manga or Japanese drama or simply want to get around Japan comfortably while you are there.
Learning a new language could be exciting but could be difficult and frustrating. I understand this feeling because I have been there. Actually, I am in a similar situation learning English everyday, so I will make sure to give you a lot of cheers and support, plus learning materials, topics and different ways to enjoy learning Japanese.

Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm. Night time is also available on Monday to Thursday from 9pm to 10:30pm.
Zoom lessons
Very patient tutor and good at explaining things!
I took Japanese classes with Shiho sensei for almost a year before needing to pause due to personal commitments. Our zoom sessions were always engaging and Shiho made learning so enjoyable:) She also shared tips on local Japanese events and gave fantastic restaurant and travel recommendations (in japanese, of course). Practicing conversational Japanese with Shiho helped me build confidence in speaking. I truly enjoyed our lessons and highly recommend her!

I reached out to Shiho last November to arrange for some Japanese lessons for my teenage daughter. I was looking for a tutor who was familiar with the Genki textbook (as my daughter had already done some lessons with that book). Shiho responded within a few hours; she confirmed she was familiar with Genki and had a flexible schedule. Lessons were then quickly setup for the following weeks. My daughter has been taking lessons for 4 months now and looks forward to them every week. Shiho works directly with my daughter to schedule the lessons over Zoom and provides me periodic updates on her progress.
