I've been a tutor through my university years, teaching English and Mathematics to high school kids.
I found that for small children, the direct method when using gestures and pictures is the most efficient. Adolescents can benefit from a more structural approach, but getting them used to communicate in English on daily basses is crucial, so I would say a direct approach is the best way in general.
I am flexible and can adapt to the student's schedule.
