French-Swedish native speaker in her third year at dual program universities (France & Canada), experience in homework tutoring and teaching French to non-native speakers. Growing up in a multilingual household and later pursuing bilingual education at both high school and university level, I know the challenges of keeping up with multiple languages! I am at ease with tutoring across all levels for French speakers and at conversational level for Swedish speakers. Feel free to reach out!
A third-year student in a Dual BA program between France (Sciences Po Paris) and Canada (UBC), with a focus on social science and humanities subjects. Currently studying international relations and journalism. Trilingual speaker of French, English, Swedish and extensive language learning experience of Spanish (fluent) and Mandarin (elementary)
Some of my most relevant work includes tutoring a student to learn French during the summer and across the school year when I was 17 as well as tutoring throughout the last school years for both native French speakers and non-native speakers. Growing up in a multilingual household I am aware of the importance keeping up with one's native language and am accustomed to the challenges one might face trying to learn multiple languages. Regarding tutoring that might be needed for a higher level (eg: high school essays) I also have a solid background in humanities subject and essay-writing, having studied two years in a social science university after spending my high school years in a rigorous bilingual dual education French-English program.
My teaching style would be very adaptable to the needs of the student. I am open to following the relevant curricula for specific French certification if they seek to following one but can also be inventive and creative to create engaging approaches to languages. I am at ease with both more targeted and rigorous aspects to capture the challenges of the language as well as a broader way of looking at French culture and literature as a source of interest and engagement for the student. Most of all I am familiar with various contexts of ease regarding language learning whether the student is used to speaking French at home or whether they are seeking to improve on it in a context dominated by other languages.
I follow classes at UBC and must take into account transport times regarding in-person classes. My most available moments are on Mondays, Thursday afternoons and Fridays afternoon. I am also available to teach on Wednesday mornings and on the weekend.
I am open to both virtual and in-person meetings. Regarding location, I would be travelling to the student's location. Within reason this is something we can discuss on a case-by case basis based on how far away we are from one another.
