Hello, I'm a native English speaker from Ottawa and I have eighteen years of experience teaching and tutoring English as a Second Language. I am based in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. I currently work for a language school in Ottawa contracted out to the GoC, and I have also tutored private English classes to embassy workers around Ottawa. Teaching English and helping you learn is my passion!
I attended Carleton University for English, Law, and Linguistics. I have the TESOL certificate, as well as the Canadian Language Benchmarks training certificate, and the Portfolio-Based Language Assessment certificate.
I began teaching English as a Second Language in Taiwan for over two years and I started working for the school board in Ottawa shortly after I returned to Canada. I have worked with all ages from children to adults. Furthermore, I have been teaching the Canadian Language Benchmark levels 1 through 7 for many years. I have also privately tutored many students working at the embassies around Ottawa. I am currently working with GofC students to help them pass their BBB/CCC levels. At the moment, I have a 100% success rate of students passing the levels they need.
I address student needs individually, according to his/her skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, with a mix of learning in all four competencies. Moreover, I provide a positive and relaxed environment so that students can feel comfortable learning a new language.
I am fairly flexible. For in person tutoring at the client's home or office I have a minimum of 2 hour slots.
I am available for lessons online via Zoom or Google and also in person at my home office, the client's home or office (within 30km).
