I am a young professional with over 6 years of tutoring experience. I am a native speaker of both French and English. I have completed a Bachelor's degree, a Postgraduate Diploma and am in my final year of Graduate studies.
I have completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Ryerson University. Following this, I completed a Postgraduate Degree in Addictions and Mental Health and Humber College and I am currently completing my Masters of Arts Degree in Social and Public Policy (part-time) at the University of York in the UK via distance learning.
My 6+ years of experience in tutoring children has been by private contracting/self-employment. Therefore, I have exceptional organizational and communication skills. Tutoring two young school-aged children throughout their elementary school career at a French Immersion school provided me with the bulk of my experience in education provision. Throughout those years, I provided homework support and additional materials that I personally sourced and created such as quizzes, worksheets, evaluations, lessons and practical guides.
Following this, I privately tutored another young child providing additional support including helping with online learning platforms. This particular child also had learning and behaviour challenges but due to my ability to adapt and my approaches centred around empathy, I was able to support the child with their studies.
Lastly, my extensive experience within the academic realm as a student has also provided me with tremendous insight into navigating academics and submitting high-quality material to a teacher or professor. I know quite well what different kinds of academic leaders expect and how to work towards these expectations through skills like meeting deadlines to writing essay structure and everything in between.
The teaching approach I find most effective is a blend of student-centred and teacher-directed approaches. I like to use students' interests to apply the material and adapt to varying student needs. Based on the students' strengths, I create activities and lesson plans that are most conducive to the particular student's learning style while still challenging them.
I am quite flexible and able to adapt to students' schedules.
