I am a first-generation immigrant to Canada; Italian and English are my native languages. I also speak French! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics, which makes me highly knowledgeable in grammar, syntax, and language acquisition in English. I have a background in academic tutoring and working with children of various ages (2-16), as well as experience in Language Workshops with post-secondary students and adults.
I am recently graduated from McGill University, where alongside Linguistics, I also studied French Literature and Philosophy as my minor concentrations.
Many can understand that being an immigrant essentially means straddling two worlds. I have spent much of my life teaching English, Italian, and French to my friends and family in order to facilitate communication amongst the people around me. Second-language acquisition comes naturally to me, I find it super fun, sometimes challenging, and always rewarding :)
Conversation-based learning has proven to be most effective for both teaching and learning language.
Drawing on linguistic similarities and parallels is helpful and particularly easy for me given my multilingual background and education in linguistics.
My schedule is flexible, I can work with your preferences and availabilities!
I offer sessions;
- online, via Zoom, Skype, etc.
- in person, in public libraries, cafes, etc.
- in person, at the client's home or workplace
