Professional Experience

I always being fascinated with languages. When I came to Toronto over 20 years ago, started working in Hotels first as I was doing it in Mexico City. After I went into the Tourist and Travel Section, here in Toronto, I worked for 16 years at Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Thornhill. Where I have the oportunity to meet customers face to face, speak all the time English and Spanish, and as well had the amazing oportunity of travel many places in the world. Some of my clients loved dealing with me, because they knew I was from Mexico, and being from there, they felt good, having me as their Travel Agent for so many years. One time in one of our conversations, the topic about Tutoring came out. They mentioned that their kids were having in school Spanish as a second language, but they could not keep with the teacher and get ahead, cause they were so many in the class, and from there, I decided to meet the ones that wanted the extra help, and started to offer private lessons two days a week for an hour and a half. At that time my students were beginners, but stayed with them for around three years, were they achieved the intermediate level. Two of my best students Canadian Russian background, had the oportunity to travel to San Miguel Allende as an International Exchange Student and the other one had the oportunity to go to Salamanca, Spain. Because a lot of people knew me in the Travel Agency, one of my Seniors customers suggested me to start tutoring them with basic Spanish, cause they loved to spend most of the Winter in Mexico and other Hispanic Countries. With them it was mostlly conversation and some grammars, and vocabulary.

Teaching Approach

I used to have my own material. I believe students prefer to be help with their own materials and books. That was the experience I had from before.
