I am a retired teacher with over 25 years of experience teaching students from Kindergarten up to Grade Six. I have a Specialist degree in Primary Education and in Special Education.
I have a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Psychology. I also have a Bachelor of Education. I have a Specialist degree in Primary Education and in Special Education. I have also taken workshops in various subjects-computers and music.
I started out my career as an Educational Assistant in a primary/junior classroom. I worked for five years assisting the teacher with special needs children. After that, I went to the Bachelor of Education program at Queen's University. I was hired for a primary classroom. I have taught from Kindergarten to Grade Six. Subsequent to that, I became a Special Education Resource Teacher for eight years. After I retired, I spent time supply teaching and tutoring.
I believe in using a "hands-on" approach to teaching. I try to first establish a good rapport with the students. I take students from where they are and use their strengths and skills to help formulate an individual plan for their learning. I am very organized and committed to having students succeed by positive reinforcement. I use a lot of TPR in order for them to understand what I am saying.
I am flexible so I can do different times during the week to teach.
I could use online (Skype) to teach my students.
