Master's degree in Russian Linguistics and Literature (High Honors)
I have been teaching Russian for 23 years. During this time I have worked with students both in group and individually, all level from Beginner to Advanced. I live in Saint-Petersburg and I have successfully taught a variety of courses, including Business Russian, TRKI preparation via Skype. My students are people of different age groups from different countries: USA, Canada, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, France and others.
As a result of our long experience working with foreigners we have been able to gather all the best practices from different methods of language teaching, then using real life situations, we have come up with our own unique study material. This approach is based on over a few decades of experience using Russian and Western specialists in foreign language teaching. It is a method which is universal, it is suitable for anyone regardless of their mother tongue. Our method combines the lexical and communicative approaches. This does not mean we neglect grammar teaching; it means that grammar structures are presented and acquired in realistic situations. All the examples, conversations and texts in our book are authentic, taken from real life and carefully selected according to students’ needs. Most importantly all our materials represent the living modern Russian language.

Even though I was limited to Skype sessions, her knowledge in linguistics, effective teaching, and confidence building positive energy, resulted in exceptional results. And she's fun with a great sense of humor!
I know Svetlana now for several years. Learning Russian with her has always been a pleasure. She has her very own teaching style, which makes remembering the words and grammar rules much more easier. Furthermore you also get plenty of insights into the russian culture and mentality. I would recommend learing the language with her anytime.
During my stay in Russia I could have had no better teacher than Svetlana. An amazing personality combined with years of experience in teaching Russian. During a two and a half month stay I wanted my level of Russian to grow to an extent where I could understand and be understood. Svetlana took it brilliantly, learning me the most commonly used phrases and making sure I got a lot of conversation practise. On the side she also helped in my life as a foreigner in Saint Petersburg, making me understand the culture, explaining the different holidays (Russians have about 2191838 of them), helping me buy and sell a bike and always telling me about the zillions of activities in the city. Svetlana is an excellent teacher who will make you love Russia and Russian and I look forward to seeing her again in the future.
I started studying Russian this autumn during a 8 weeks stay in St Petersburg. Within 8 weeks Sveta made me speak an read in Russian so that I was able to communicate and organise my everyday life. I enjoyed every single lesson with Svetlana. She was always highly motivated and well prepared to teach vocabulary, grammar and conversation as well as help me approach the Russian culture, history and way of life. Besides she was a big help in organising tickets for cultural events, daytrips or anything else I needed during my stay in Russia. Being back home we continue Skype classes on a weekly basis which helps me a lot to continue studying and not to forget everything I learned.
I was very fortunate to have Svetlana as my teacher during my 3-month stay in Russia. It was extremely refreshing to find a teacher that understands learning a language is not limited to textbooks and worksheets. I loved that conversation practice was a must in every lesson.
