I am a native English speaker with a Masters degree in Literary Studies, a Higher Diploma in Education, and many years of teaching English both as first and second language and French as an additional language, at high school level, as well as experience of starting alternative primary schools and teaching at primary school level.
BA French and English from Rhodes University; BA Honours from the then University of Natal; MA in Literary Studies from the University of Cape Town; Higher Diploma in Education from UKZN, with French and English as major teaching subjects; Courses from UNISA in Psychology and Spanish; Waldorf teacher training in Hillcrest, Durban.
I taught: ESL in Namibia, Gazankulu and Taiwan; French additional language and English First Language at Girls High School in Pietermaritzburg; English conversation classes in Paris; I started and ran a homeschool in Johannesburg, and two alternative primary schools, one in Pietermaritzburg and one in the Byrne Valley, KZN; Primary School class teacher and music teacher at Roseway Waldorf in Hillcrest.
It obviously depends entirely on who I am teaching, but with language teaching I favour the "present, practise, produce" method, with a focus on teaching one new grammar point well and then creating situations for that one grammar point to be practised with a lot of different vocabulary.
I am available every day except for Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Online via Skype or zoom or within 10 kilometres of my home.
