Mariam is a fantastic teacher, and just all-around lovely person. During her classes, she intuitively adapts to your level of understanding, way of learning, and interests - and alters her lessons and approach to ensure you get the best learning experience. Our lessons are a mixture of informal conversation, speaking/listening practice, vocabulary and grammar using a textbook as a guide (and lots of other video/paper/media tools as supplements). She brings in all of her own native Brazilian expertise, but also adapts her teaching to the regional Brazilian accent and dialect nuances of my husband's family, making sure I understand the differences to help me communicate better with them. It's always a joy to spend some time learning with Mariam, and I look forward to being her student for a long time to come.
Mariam is an absolutely amazing teacher. She is a ray of sunshine when she enters the room. Her teaching style is very dynamic, fresh and upbeat. There is never a dull moment when Mariam is teaching Portuguese. We have been studying with her for a year now, and our Portuguese has really improved. She is a superb teacher and knows her stuff.
I have been happy with Mariam as my Portuguese tutor. She is patient and fun to work with. She teaches me to improve my conversation skills. She listens, responds and corrects my language. She chooses interesting topics to discuss for each class. She is professional and her teaching style is adaptive to every student.
