I have been fortunate to lived, study and work in various countries. Teaching languages means helping others build bridges to new cultures and worldviews. I love coming to know each of my students and using their personal interests and goals to help fuel their learning. If my rate is too high for you and/or you are a single parent or refugee, please let me know and I will consider a reduced rate. If you want to find a few friends for a private group class, that also reduces the cost per person.

15 years of tutoring experience: English, Spanish and French as additional language and supporting some heritage speakers. I have also tutored grades 11-12 English literature and supported essay writing and exam prep. As a certified teacher in schools, I have taught: French (grades 3-11 & adults), Spanish (grades 5-12 & adults), English as an Additional Language (grades 6-12 & adults), Social Studies 8, Career Life Education 10, Visual Arts (K-7) and Instrumental music (K-7).
For students who want customized learning, I provide all learning materials, which I design to ensure a solid base of in-context vocabulary and verb conjugations. You will gain proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking. I blend in storytelling and writing to immerse beginner-level students in the language. As appropriate to the content of each lesson, my lessons are interdisciplinary and intercultural. I also use language games and songs. I assign relevant homework and expect students to review content between lessons.
I can focus on the content that you need to learn for a course you are already taking. My students have succeeded in IB PYP, MYP and DP courses, as well as official exams (DELF, DALF, DELE, etc.) and exams for employment (EAL levels B1, B2, C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
I also have experience in preparing youth and adults for travel to French and Spanish-speaking countries.

We can discuss the teaching location; I have taught in cafés, libraries, my home office, and client's home/work (depending on distance, there may be an additional fee if you would like lessons in your home/work office). I also use online video call lessons using shared documents over screen sharing.
