I was born in America, but I can speak Arabic fluently because it is the language that my family prefers to speak at home. I have been learning to read and write in Arabic and my university is allowing me to skip Arabic III for an advanced Arabic texts class. I have also been studying French for three years.
Education / Certificates
I passed Arabic I and II with As in both classes and passed French I, II, and III in high school with a B average.
Professional Experience
I sometimes translate Arabic into English for my younger brother when we are in front of other people of Middle Eastern Origin.
Teaching Approach
I beleive that non-natives should first focus on phonetics because some sounds can be hard to produce and unless focused on early will cause problems. In the case of Arabic, unless the student knows the alphabet, three weeks should be taken on perfecting the alphabet. I beleive in understanding the language and that if a student can not tell me a certain sentence or phrase means than they are not learning the language.
Availability
Saturdays from 9am to 3pm and Sunday all day.
Teaching Place(s)
At the local library or Barnes and Nobles.
