I am a Dutch citizen but immigrated to South Africa and am therefore a native English speaker. I have a BA degree in English and Political Science and have been teaching now for 4 years. Am a senior journalist/editor by profession but changed careers when I emigrated to Portugal where I now reside.
Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification in addition to the ESL/EFL Teaching Business English-Moodle Course diploma through TEFL. I subsequently completed the International Berlitz Instructor's Course in The Hague/Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
I have taught both Business and General English and Dutch courses as various language schools for the past four years. My students come from diverse professional background. I have also taught General English to adults, teens and young children and have about 2,000 hours of teaching experience.
I used to teach face-to-face at various language schools but have taught online since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. My teaching entails the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching in physical and virtual contexts. I employ a range of traditional and progressive methodology, with emphasis on incorporating opportunities of experiential learning wherever possible. While I often use textbooks for beginners, I enjoy creating tailored material for all levels to address specific learning needs.
Being divorced without any dependents I am available at any time and thus very flexible with regard to international time zones. I have a dedicated private study and am therefore also available over weekends.
