During our lessons, we'll focus on improving your speaking skills for your work, travel, or studies, enabling you to apply everything you learn in class to everyday life situations within no time. I currently study Adult Education at the University, I'm TEFL/ TESOL certified, and I have fifteen years of experience teaching ESL to people of all ages, levels, and nationalities, both locally and online.
I attended The Fessenden School and Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, where I studied part of Middle School and got my High School Diploma. Right after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to study music at Musicians Institute for a period of six months then, I attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and Elmhurst College in Illinois.
I took a two-year course at NELS in General Translation, and I'm currently a second semester Jr. at the Metropolitana University in Caracas, where I'm completing my undergraduate degree in Adult Education. I have a TEFL/ TESOL Masters Level Course Certificate from Bridge, and I’m currently working on getting my Grammar Advisor Certificate.
I have fifteen years of experience teaching kids, teens, and adults in institutes, companies, and online. I worked for twelve years as an English tutor doing outsourcing for two major education companies in Caracas, Venezuela; I also taught English at Berlitz for seven years, at Cambly for nine months, and I'm relatively new on Preply.
I use The Communicative-Language Learning Approach as well as variations of The Task-Based Learning Approach when teaching; however that isn't always the case, I rely on whatever methodology adapts best to my student's learning style and needs. I either correct during the lesson or after it is finished, and the number of corrections made will depend on the student's personality, learning style, and the gravity of the mistakes.
In class, we'll use visual aids, vocabulary and idiomatic expression worksheets, conversation questions, short stories, audio recordings, comprehension activities, and do oral activities with a grammar focus to help you improve in all four aspects of the language.
